Virtual Diplomacy
The Institute's educational objective is to extract lessons
and insights for future training of international affairs specialists, whether
in government, international organizations, or the private sector. The Institute
will accomplish this by:
- Understanding how the information revolution is transforming
the character of international relations and conflict;
- Exploring the impact of new information technologies on institutional
structures and operational effectiveness in the field;
- Identifying ways that information and communications technologies
can strengthen preventive diplomacy, conflict management and resolution;
- Identifying areas of potential cooperation between crisis
management groups, with special focus on using new information and communication
technologies;
- Uncovering and developing resources in business, industry
and philantropic circles to help foster that cooperation; and,
- Supporting cooperative efforts by encouraging unfamiliar
organizational partnerships and broader resource-sharing.
