THE DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE OF GEORGIA

For the centuries Georgia existed as an independent state. At the end of the 18^th century, oppressed by the enemies, Georgia was compelled to join Russia. After the revolution in Russia in 1917, many things had changed and Russian army left the South Caucasus. Therefore, it was urgently neccesary to create Georgian state organization in order to save the country from annexation and create a strong base for its independent development. Present document was thought to be the fundament for the statehood and independence of Georgia.
